Read our guides: Epoxy Flooring Cost in Brisbane | Epoxy vs Polished Concrete

Polished concrete is growing in popularity across Queensland as homeowners and architects discover its timeless beauty, sustainability and remarkably low long-term maintenance costs.

What Our Customers Say

"Had our industrial shed done. The floor is tough as nails — exactly what we needed for a high-traffic workshop. Professional crew, great communication."

Chris M. — Toowoomba

"Used them for a large commercial warehouse. Turnaround was fast, price was competitive and the floor is holding up brilliantly 12 months on. Will use them again."

Dave R. — Sunshine Coast

"Our kitchen and laundry floors look like they belong in a magazine. Seamless, easy to clean and they matched our colour perfectly. Couldn't be happier!"

Amanda H. — Brisbane

Benefits of Our Polished Concrete

Timeless Natural Aesthetic

Exposes the natural beauty of the concrete aggregate — every floor is completely unique depending on the stone in the slab.

Extremely Low Maintenance

No coatings to peel or reapply. Sweep and mop with neutral pH cleaner. The floor actually improves with age.

Densified & Stain Resistant

Lithium silicate densifier reacts with the concrete to create a harder, denser surface that resists staining and moisture absorption.

Eco-Friendly — Zero Coatings

No epoxy, no VOCs, no film to eventually peel and go to landfill. Polished concrete is one of the most sustainable flooring options available.

Improves Natural Lighting

The reflective surface bounces light around the room — reducing artificial lighting requirements and energy costs.

Lifetime Longevity

A properly polished concrete floor will last the life of the building. Re-polishing is rarely required before 10 years.

Our Polished Concrete Process

Every job follows the same meticulous process — from free quote to final inspection — so you know exactly what to expect.

Slab Assessment

We inspect aggregate composition, surface condition and hardness — and advise on achievable finish levels before quoting.

Coarse Diamond Grinding

Metal-bond diamond tooling (16–30 grit) removes existing coatings, levels high spots and opens the aggregate.

Crack & Void Filling

Cracks, pits and voids are filled with colour-matched epoxy filler to create a uniform, blemish-free surface.

Progressive Diamond Polishing

The floor is polished through progressively finer grits (50 → 100 → 200 → 400 → 800 → 1500 → 3000) — each pass refining the surface further.

Densifier Application

Lithium silicate densifier is worked into the surface mid-process. It chemically reacts with the concrete to create a harder, more stain-resistant surface.

Stain Guard & Final Polish

A penetrating stain guard is applied for protection, followed by the final polish passes to achieve your specified sheen level.

Polished Concrete — Cost Guide

Pricing depends on the aggregate exposure level, sheen level, floor condition and area. Polished concrete is typically competitive with premium tile and stone.

ServicePrice Range
Cream polish (no aggregate exposed) $40 – $60 / m²
Salt & pepper (fine aggregate) $50 – $75 / m²
Full aggregate / terrazzo look $60 – $90 / m²
Decorative staining / dyeing (add-on) +$15 – $30 / m²

Frequently Asked Questions — Polished Concrete

Most slabs can be polished to some degree. The result depends on the concrete mix design, aggregate content and slab condition. We assess the slab before quoting and provide reference photos of similar projects.

Polished concrete is graded from Level 1 (flat/matte, ~100 grit) to Level 4 (mirror polish, ~3000 grit). The most popular residential choice is Level 3 (semi-gloss, 800–1500 grit) — reflective but not mirror-like.

Concrete feels slightly cooler underfoot than timber or carpet — actually a benefit in Queensland's climate. In cooler areas of the state it pairs well with hydronic or slab heating.

Sweep regularly and mop with a neutral pH cleaner. Avoid acidic cleaners such as vinegar or citrus products. If a stain guard has been applied, re-application every 3–5 years maintains stain resistance.

Polished concrete grinds and refines the existing slab. A concrete overlay is a thin cementitious layer applied over the slab before polishing — useful when the existing slab is too rough or damaged for direct polishing.

Both. New slabs are typically easier and more cost-effective to polish as they are clean and level. Existing slabs may require more preparation and crack repair but deliver the same stunning result.
